What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities—including those with sensory, cognitive, and motor differences—to browse with the same level of ease and enjoyment as any other visitor. We achieve this through thoughtful design and compatibility with assistive technologies

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines to the level of AA. Our content is designed to work with screen readers and keyboard navigation. As part of this effort, we have:

Used the Accessibility Wizard to identify and resolve potential barriers.
Set a Clear Content Order and heading structures for predictable navigation.
Added Alternative Text to all images, including our "candle-glow" visual identifiers.
Implemented High-Contrast Colours that meet readability standards while maintaining our soothing, low-sensory palette.
Reduced Motion to prevent sensory overwhelm and vestibular triggers.
Ensured All Media (video and audio) includes captions or transcripts for our Hybrid Hub participants

(Once we get a location) Physical Accessibility: Our Nanaimo Sanctuary

Our in-person sessions are held in a facility designed for nervous system safety:

The Journey In: Accessible parking is located near the main entrance with a step-free path to the studio.
The Sanctuary: Our studio features dimmable, flicker-free candle-glow lighting and a "Regulation Corner" with weighted pads and noise-canceling headphones.
Washrooms: Fully accessible, gender-neutral washrooms are located on the same floor as the studio.
